A certain fiction set on a Virginia tobacco estate in the last piece of the 1700s. The story of 2 families. Administrator James Pyke is the owner of the estate where his Martha and their 2 adolescents dwell; Boss is there when he isn't away on business.
The second family on the residence is the slave family that runs the essential house and the assistant area of the farm; Mother Mae, her soul mate George and their posterity of various ages. Various slaves work the land, an extensive parcel of whom shift center over to Mother Mae as a mother figure.
Right when Chief brings back a 7 year old Irish young woman, Lavinia, he articulates her to be committed to him (her people passed on the way from Ireland, he sold her more prepared kin upon appearance).
He selects her to work in the House Kitchen nearby Excellence, the Bosses nonsensical young lady. At first uninformed about the assortment differentiation, Lavinia ends up being incredibly joined to Mother Mae and her family and thinks of them as her friends and family.
