An opportunity experience. An innocuous con. A determined arrangement. Be that as it may, in some cases behaving recklessly isn't an arrangement. It is just a catastrophe waiting to happen.
Copied from Book:
Meghna entered. Pranav was pacing the floor. He looked at Meghna as she walked in. She was taken aback by the look in his eyes. They were intense and half-hooded. They almost gleamed at her. She noticed the vein throbbing at the side of his forehead. There was not one good sign to calm her agitation.
“I cancelled the shoot. Call the production house…”
“Yes, we already called them. They’ve agreed to reschedule. We are also working on what upset you and how we can prevent it…”
“What upset me? What upset me? What upset me is my dad!” replied Pranav, his voice raising.
“Yeah… We know.”
“Then say it. Say my dad. Don’t say ‘what upset you’!”
Meghna looked around the room helplessly.
He continued, “I have been noticing you from the day you joined. You are trying to act cool and professional.”
He spat out the words as if it was an insult and Meghna did not know what to make out of that. ‘Cool and professional’ was good, right?
“I don’t pay you to act aloof. You think this is an easy job? One that you can do without investing yourself emotionally?” he said, still pacing the room rapidly.
“I just don’t want to complicate…”
“I don’t want a robot working for me. I don’t need you to act aloof and cool and professional. I want you to feel things. I want you to be emotionally invested. You think I am just going to give you a list of tasks to do? No, I am not! You are here to understand me, anticipate what I need and act accordingly. I repeat, I want you to be emotionally invested in me. I want you to care!”
“I do care!”
He stopped pacing and moved towards her. He came so dangerously close that Meghna could feel the heat from his body. He looked into her eyes and growled, “Do you?”
“I… I…,” stammered Meghna, looking into his eyes and blinking rapidly. He was towering over her, and it was making her heart race even faster.
“No, you don’t. If you did, the first thing you would have done is to ask me what went wrong. Or to see how I was doing. Not calling the production house to reschedule.”
“That was the first thing you asked me to do!” thought Meghna, defending herself. She obviously was not going to say anything when he was this close to her. He slowly backed off and went to sit on his lounge sofa. He leaned back, closed his eyes and stretched his legs.
Meghna took another chair and placed it in front of the sofa. She sat down and looked at him. He opened his eyes and looked at her. They were blazing.
“Do you have a fever?” asked Meghna, reaching out and feeling his neck. He did not have a temperature. But his eyes were intently focused on her. With her hand still on his neck, she looked into his eyes. And froze. She forgot to breathe. Then, barely regaining herself, she removed her hand from his neck and broke eye contact. She rubbed her arms, trying to contain the goosebumps that were blatantly giving away her emotions. She mumbled, “You don’t have a temperature.”
She looked up and saw that his eyes had never left her. She blushed as she tried to think of something else to say or do.
“Do you need anything? Water? Coffee?”
“Yes,” he replied, in a calm voice. Meghna found his calmness even more frightening than when he was shouting.
“What do you need?” she whispered.
“You.”
Snippet :
It is past the point of no return when she understands that her incredibly attractive supervisor needs her to be something other than his administrator.
Because of a bizarre misconception, Meghna invests some energy with the celebrity, Pranav. Sadly, she doesn't remember him. Also, he doesn't edify her about the reality by the same token. It is just a lot later that she finds what his identity is.
Totally shook by the experience, Meghna chooses to neglect and continue on. However, Pranav has not overlooked her. He seeks after her and offers her a task as his supervisor.
With no other choice, Meghna takes up the gig with serious second thoughts. In any case, everything isn't what it appears. As she finds increasingly more about her shocking, attractive chief, she understands that he wants her to be something other than his supervisor.
Also, individually, the painstakingly kept up with exterior disintegrates and out comes the stunning bits of insight!
